After its foundation, 7th October University reached its first landmark when the Faculty of Basic sciences, Misurata was opened in September, 1984. Later, other faculties were established both in Misurata and Baniwaleed. The current status of 7th October University was formally established when the decree of the General People's Committee No. 200/2004 was issued.
